What is asbestos?
Asbestos is a naturally occurring material of fibrous silicate minerals with strong durability, fire resistance and insulating properties. Asbestos was common until about 1990. Between 1990 and 2004 it was still used and recycled within the building industry so our advice is that unless owners are certain that asbestos does not exist in the common property that a survey is carried out on all properties built prior to 2004.
